What is port 631?

Port 631 is used by IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) and CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) for network printing and print job management. CUPS exposed to the internet can leak system information. In 2024, a critical vulnerability in CUPS/IPP (CVE-2024-47176) was disclosed that allowed unauthenticated remote code execution via UDP port 631, affecting millions of Linux systems.
