DNS History Ιστορικό αλλαγών DNS
DNS record change history — A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT and more.
Automatic recording
Every DNS lookup done through NerdTools is stored automatically.
Change detection
See exactly when a record changed, what was added and what was removed.
External data
For domains without local history, we pull data from an external database.
What is Ιστορικό DNS?
The Ιστορικό DNS provides a chronological timeline of changes to a domain's DNS records. Instead of seeing only the current state, you can see when a record changed, which value was replaced and which new value was added — like a log file for your DNS.
Why do DNS records change?
Hosting migration
When you move a site to a new server or cloud provider, the A records change to point to the new IP. The Ιστορικό DNS lets you verify that the change happened at the right point in time.
Changing email provider
Switching from one mail provider to another (e.g. from cPanel mail to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365) requires changes to MX records and possibly to SPF/DKIM TXT records.
Security and incident response
If you suspect someone changed DNS records without authorisation (DNS hijacking), the history shows you exactly when and what changed — a valuable tool for forensic analysis.
How to read the timeline
First record (initial)
The first time NerdTools recorded the records for the domain. This does not mean the records were created then — it was simply the first observation.
Addition (+)
A new value appeared in the record that was not present in the previous snapshot. For example, a new MX server or new SPF record was added.
Removal (−)
A value that existed in the previous snapshot has disappeared. For example, an old nameserver or the IP of the old hosting was removed.
Data sources
The Ιστορικό DNS combines two sources: internal records created every time a DNS lookup is performed through NerdTools, and external data from historical databases for domains that do not yet have local records.
