What is port 1723?

PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol) on port 1723 was one of the first VPN protocols, built into Windows since 95/NT. It is now considered cryptographically broken — Microsoft's own research demonstrated serious weaknesses in the MS-CHAPv2 authentication scheme, making it practical to crack. If you are still running a PPTP VPN, migrate immediately to IKEv2, OpenVPN, or WireGuard.
